Iron Man 3

Yes another big bang movie has come to our shores. It is none other than Iron Man 3! Are you sick and tired already? If you ask me honestly I am but I guess there is some incentive to me if I write and blog about the movie here so I will just give this movie my usual two cents worth. Oh wait, I have not watched this movie, but I may be watching it because someone is pestering me to watch it, but hey, lets not talk too much in circles and go straight for the meat.

I am not going to reveal too much about the Plot here, but if you recall Iron Man 2 left us off with Iron Man defeating the bad guy known as Vanko and he also gets to meet Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD. That was followed by the Avengers movie, where we saw Iron Man battle evil with the other goody two shoes. Well in Iron Man 3, we will see Tony Stark aka Iron Man save the world again (again I am going to stress I am not going to reveal too much of the plot and neither will I go read up on it simply because I have yet to watch the movie!)

Anyways why not start by watching the trailer to whet your appetite :)

If you ask me who my favourite Iron Man 3 character is (wait is this a trick question?), well it is none other than Iron Man himself. Well I was almost going to choose Pepper Potts but I guess that would be because she is a she and pretty. Haha, anyways I think we need a superhero, and Iron Man is someone who has some sort of a disability yet he uses science and his money to create an iron suit so that he can battle evil. Since most of the super heros have superpowers, Iron Man stands out because his superpowers can actually happen (who knows we might have REAL iron mans in the future).

Disney’s “OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL”

Recently I heard that Disney just bought over Lucasfilm. With such renewed power in the entertainment industry, it is no wonder that Disney will soon conquer and take over the world (ok I am just kidding here). Anyway I am here talking about Disney because of their new film titled “OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL”.

Oz the Great and Powerful is an upcoming 2013 American fantasy adventure film directed by Sam Raimi. Needless to say most people can guess that this film is inspired by the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. But this seems to be a beautiful and wonderful adaptation of the book and also stars gorgeous Hollywood actors and actresses such as James Franco as Oscar Diggs, who is none other than the Wizard of Oz as well as the sexy Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz. 

So what is this movie all about? Basically, Oscar Diggs is a small-time circus magician who is transported to the  Land of Oz where he thinks he has found fame and fortune beyond what he has imagined. However he bumps into the witches Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. I shall not reveal too much of the plot here but it is about how Oscar finds himself and makes himself to be a powerful magician to save Oz.

If you ask me what excites me in Disney’s “OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL” I have a feeling that it is the kind of movie that I would enjoy: a beautiful cast, an enchanting tale as well as mystery and magic. Seriously this is the kind of flick I cant wait to watch, and hopefully I do get to catch it before everyone does!

Wreck-It Ralph 

Once again, Disney has done it again by producing a great 3D computer animated adventure film that will drive kids nut and keep the family occupied and laughing! The story is about an arcade game villain who rebels against his role of a villain and dreams of becoming a hero. You guessed it right, Wreck-It Ralph is supposed to be the bad guy who is smashing things up, in comparison to the good guy in his game, Fix-It Felix. Guess he wants to give up this career of smashing things. Anyways, he travels between games in the arcade, and ultimately must eliminate a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, which incidentally turned out to be something he started.

Anways looking at this cool trailer and movie, my favourite game character is still Wreck-It Ralph. I wonder why Disney did not name it Wreck-It Willy though haha (since it is Fix-It Felix). Anyways, I think it sucks if you are a good person but you are forced to be a villain. It was great of Ralph to have his own dreams and not just give in to fate. I have always been a fan of Disney movies and of course cool animations hence I am definitely excited to catch Disney’s WRECK-IT RALPH!

The Change Up Movie Review

Warning: This review contains spoilers so read at your own risk!

Hey there people! Thanks to omy.sg I had the chance to watch the movie titled The Change Up at a preview screening. First of all I must say that this is my very very first movie review and I have to tell you that any pointers would be appreciated! Once again I have to remind you that my review would contain elements of the movie plot so if you have watched the movie and do not want to know too many details, read this review at your own caution!

So what is this movie all about? Simply put it is about two grown men who are actually the best of buddies and whose bodies can switched when they pee into a fountain (with some scary statue staring at them see below) and wished that they had each other lives. Ryan Reynolds plays Mitch Planko, a playboy cum bummer who is basically a quitter in life. Unlike Jason Bateman who plays Dave Lockwood, he is single and basically lives each day as it comes. Dave is a married man with three kids (one elder daughter and a pair of twins) and is also successful in his career (a lawyer who is close to becoming a partner of a law firm).

 

The fountain that grants your wish

The lives of these two somehow get disrupted after their bodies are switched. Many people would think that this film is a meaningless comedy (which was what I taught about the film at first) but if you stayed in the cinema and watch it to the end, you may realise that you get to learn a bit about life in this movie. Imagine what a life of a family guy with a tough career can do to a single lazy bum and how a fresh look on life can do to a family man.

As anyone one can guess, both worlds of the two men are turned upside down. Dave almost loses a chance at being partner and Mitch almost loses his women (well actually he did but he gained a new one more on that later). But things take a turn for the better and got on so well that they both almost decided that they were pretty comfortable the way things were. Of course they finally realise the importance of being themselves in their own bodies and decide to switch back, but not without some humilation of course. In the end, Dave realises how important his family is to him and how he should spend more time on his wife and children instead of his job and Mitch, well while Dave was inside Mitch, he helped him score a hot babe ala Sabrina played by Olivia Wilde, who is Dave's subordinate. I just love a happy ending!

This is not the reason why this movie is M18 but if you think that is chocolate on his face think again! Watch the movie to find out what happened to Dave's face!

Anyways do note that this movie is rated M18 and there are some shots of nudity in the film. I would feel that even the younger crowd will have something to learn when they watch this movie but I guess the writers want to focus on some adult comedic  fun yet want this movie to be meaningful and not just about slapstick humour.

So this is a simple review and I must say that this is a simple movie with a simple plot. Yet it is able to garner plenty of laughs in the audience and maybe some tears as some parts can be real touching. Simple in execution, yet deep in meaning and it definitely will make you rethink what you should do in your life. Watch this movie (I give it 4 stars) and you will not regret it.

Cars 2 the Sequel to the Great Pixar Movie Cars

Hey there folks! I bet you are itching to watch another animation from Pixar! I was just watching Toy Story 3 on DVD, it is a super fantastic film by the way and I chanced upon this cool new Pixar animation titles Cars 2! If you can recall, Cars was about up and coming hot shot Lightning McQueen who wanted to win the Piston cup, a racing tournament of sorts. By the way do pardon me if I get any of the facts wrong as it has been a while since I watched Cars! Anyways the run-down town of Radiator Springs soon comes alive after set up his headquarters there, helping to put Radiator Springs back on the map.

In Cars 2, Lightning McQueen returns home to Radiator Springs and reunites with his best friend Mater who really helped him out in Cars and girlfriend Sally Carrera. This time instead of the Piston Cup there is the "World Grand Prix" and McQueen is inadvertently drawn into this race. Then the fun starts when American spy car Rod "Torque" Redline enters the World Grand Prix and Mater is mistaken as an American spy as well. Mater manages to figure out that the mastermind behind the evil plot is Miles Axlerod. Mater manages to stop Axlerod's plans and is knighted by the Queen and returns home with his friends.

Do not even get what I am talking about? Making a sneak peak into this trailer will do you some good!

Well anyways I should say that a real spy is never a spy without a good spy name. Rod "Torque" Redline does not sound like a spy name to me. If you ask me if I were a spy, I would want to be called "Audi Towers", Well I guess most people would be able to guess this is a play on the silly spy known as Äustin Powers". Why I played around with this name is to introduce a super spy who not only drives an "Audi" [and hey thats the link to this movie Cars 2 too ;)], in addition, he lives in a sky scraping space tower too! So who does not want to be a cool spy and get a good car with a good place to stay too? Well I should stop rambling and you should start queuing up to buy your tickets for Cars 2!

Zac Efron’s Latest Movie – Charlie St. Cloud

Well hello there again folks! Check out one of the latest movies from Hollywood where cutie pie Zac Efron of High School Muscial fame stars as a leading actor. If you are a big fan of Zac Efron, I am sure that you just cannot wait to catch this movie! This movie is titled "Charlie St. Cloud". Like many great movies these days, Charlie St. Cloud is based on a popular novel, by the name of "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud".

Charlie St. Cloud is about a romantic story and Zac Efron stars as a young man named Charlie St. Cloud who survives an accident. He is an accomplished sailor who has the adoration of mother Claire and little brother Sam, as well as a college scholarship to Stanford. Unfortunately, both he and his brother were involved in an accident. While Charlie St. Cloud escaped death, his brother was not so fortunate. Before the accident, Charlie had promised that he would practise baseball with his brother everyday before he left for Stanford. Now after the accident, he seems to be stuck in a world where his brother is still alive, and he can't bear to leave this world due to the promise he made to his brother. his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it. Things take a turn after his high-school classmate Tess returns home unexpectedly, and Charlie starts to fall in love with her. He then has to decide whether to let go of the past or to hang on to whatever is left of his brother.

Now I would like to answer this question: “Who would you like Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) to choose – his brother or the girl he likes? And why?” Well the answer to this one is pretty obvious. Charlie should move on with his life. His brother is already dead and there is no use clinging to the past. Fate has brought him together with Tess and he should not throw that away just because he made a promise to his brother and he cannot forget his brother. So my advice to Charlie is this: Let go of the past and seize the future!

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice

Hello there folks! Once again welcome to my blog! Today's topic is about the upcoming movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. If you are a Jerry Bruckheimer fan, you just have to watch this film! For your info, Jerry Bruckheimer  is the guy who brought you movies such as the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, CSI, Prince of Persia, National Treasure and many other cool flicks! Now this new movie is about the adventures of a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil. Who better than Nicolas Cage to star in the film, having worked with both producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub. He stars as a master sorcerer named Balthazar in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath, played by Alfred Molina. Balthazar recruits Dave Stutler (played by Jay Baruchel) as his apprentise and teaches him the art of magic and together take down the bad guy.

If you are a sorcerer’s apprentice, what would you use your powers for? 

If you ask me, it would be quite impossible to be a sorcerer's apprentice in this day and age, but it would sure help you get ahead alot in life if you have got special powers. First of all, I would want to use my powers for good and not for evil. The powers should also not be used for monetary gain, though sometimes it can be nice to create wealth for the poor! But I guess the best is to use those powers to protect Earth from evil. Better still if the powers can be used to stop natural disasters or stop global warming! Anyways....
